giving_median
The median grant in the stated years, which is a better planning figure than the mean.
giving_median is the median size of the grants counted in
giving_count.
The median rather than the mean, deliberately. Foundation giving is heavily skewed — a handful of very large grants and a long tail of small ones — and a mean over that distribution describes a grant nobody received.
