ein
The employer identification number, and the join key to public filings.
ein is the funder's employer identification number. It is the key that joins a
funder to its public filings, which is what makes financial data about it
possible at all.
It is stored as the digits the filing shows and formatted for display rather than reformatted in storage, and it is rendered in mono with tabular figures like every other identifier in the product.
Shown as: the EIN on the funder profile. When absent: Not stated. Government agencies do not have one in the sense this field means, and their records leave it empty rather than carrying a placeholder. See also EIN.
