The federal government’s public record of what it actually spent — awards made, to whom, under which programme, for how much. It answers the question a listing of open opportunities cannot: who has won this money before.

In detail
It is the natural companion to a listing rather than a competitor to one. A programme’s assistance listing number joins the two, so a notice you are reading can in principle be matched to the awards that programme made in prior years.
It is retrospective by construction, and reporting lags. It will not tell you what is open now, and its record of an award is not the notice that award came from.
Against our funder award history
We hold a `funder_award` table and a set of giving figures on funder records — `giving_total`, `giving_median`, `giving_count`, `giving_years`, with `data_year` and `data_source` stating where they came from and which year they describe. That is history from the filings we have connected. It is not a mirror of federal spending data, and a record here does not join to a federal award.
How GrantTrove stores it
- Funder giving figures always carry `data_year` and `data_source`, because a 990 figure without its year is a number pretending to be current.
- Where we hold no history for a funder, the profile says so rather than showing a zero. A zero would assert the funder gave nothing.
Common questions
Can I see who won a grant here?
For funders where we have connected filings, we show giving history. We do not mirror federal award records.
Is USAspending current?
It is retrospective and reporting lags. It is authoritative about the past, not about what is open.
Do your figures come from it?
No. Funder giving figures come from the filings named in `data_source`, with the year in `data_year`.
