Switching between client profiles
The switcher at the top of the sidebar: what it filters, what it does not, and where the choice is remembered.
A consultancy holds one profile per organisation it works with and asks every question about one of them at a time. The switcher at the top of the sidebar, above the navigation, is where that choice is made — once, for every page the navigation leads to.
It appears when the account holds two or more live profiles. With one profile there is nothing to switch between, so the control is not rendered; archived profiles are not offered.
What it filters
Three surfaces obey the selection.
The board shows the applications filed against the selected profile, and says underneath the count how many are filed elsewhere or nowhere. A list quietly narrowed reads as a list that has lost rows, so it is never narrowed quietly.
Your alerts shows the alerts named for that profile. An alert is named from the Client profile column on that page — see Alerts for what an alert watches in the first place.
The dashboard narrows all three of its blocks: Due soon, New for you, and Pipeline.
A saved search has no client of its own. It belongs to the selected profile when an alert filed under that profile is watching it, which is why turning an alert's profile on or off also changes which searches appear while that client is selected.
What it does not filter
The catalogue. Search, records, funders and the matching wizard are identical whichever profile is selected, and identical for a reader with no account at all. The switcher scopes your own working surfaces and nothing else.
Where the choice lives
On your browser, for a year, and not on your account. That is deliberate: an owner reviewing one client on a laptop should not change what a colleague's dashboard shows, and the selection is a view preference rather than a fact about the organisation.
Because it is a preference and not a permission, the selection is checked against the profiles you are actually a member of on every page load. A selection that no longer resolves — a profile archived, a membership ended — falls back to showing everything rather than to showing something you should not see.
Selecting "All profiles"
The first entry in the menu clears the selection. Every board, every alert and every dashboard block returns to showing your whole account, including the applications and alerts filed under no profile at all.
